HOOD, Thomas. Poems of wit and humour.

London. E. Moxon, Son, & Co., [1870]. Eighteenth edition.
8vo. viii, 282pp. Finely bound by Zaehnsdorf (stamp-signed to verso of FFEP) in contemporary gilt-decorated green morocco. Marbled endpapers, gilt dentelles, A.E.G. Bookplate of Bernard Lord Coleridge to verso of FFEP. Scattered spotting, particularly to title.
A sumptuously bound copy of English poet and editor Thomas Hood's (1799-1845) collected poems, first issued posthumously in 1847. Known for his humorous commentary on contemporary issues, Moxon's collections of Hood's verse were a wild success - as demonstrated by this eighteenth edition, over two decades later.
