KEYNES, John Maynard. A tract on monetary reform.

London. Macmillan and Co., 1923. First edition.
8vo. [2], viii, 209pp, [3]. With a half-title and initial and final leaves of publisher's advertisements. Original publisher's blue cloth, lettered in gilt. Without dustwrapper. Rubbed, spine sunned. Recent bookplate of the Library of Mistakes to FEP, early inked ownership inscription of Percy George to recto of FFEP, leaves toned.
The first of John Maynard Keynes’s (1883-1946) significant contribution to economic theory, a revision and elaboration upon earlier articles that had appeared in the Manchester Guardian, written in the context of the monetary disorders brought about by the First World War, the tract develops the case for a managed currency in place of the gold standard, which the author dismissed as ‘a barbarous relic’.
