Contemporary gilt-tooled calf, marbled cloth boards, later rebacked preserving contemporary back-strip, all edges red. Heavily rubbed. Scattered spotting. Presentation copy, inked inscription to blank verso of additional divisional title: 'W. B. Chorley Esq. / With Mrs. Hemans's kind regards'.
A presentation copy of the first American edition of the final long poem by Felicia Dorothea Hemans [née Browne] (1793-1835), inspired by the conversion to Protestantism of Anglo-Spanish émigré priest Joseph Blanco White (1775-1841).
