The first edition of a reproduction of two letters on the transmission of malaria between eminent malariologist Sir Ronald Ross (1857-1932) and his mentor, physician and parasitologist and pioneer of tropical medicine, Sir Patrick Manson (1844-1922).
The publication is comprised of a prefatory note by Ross, his letters to Manson of August 22nd and 31st, 1897, announcing his discovery of malaria parasites in anopheles mosquitoes, and a short extract relating the history of Ross's discovery from a speech by Dr. Low to the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine, 18th October, 1929.
