A presentation copy of the sole edition of a five-act historical tragedy by artist and aesthete Sir Coutts Lindsay (1824-1913). In an effort to emulate the tropes of the tragic plays of Greek antiquity, Lindsay includes strophe and antistrophe intended for a chorus and casts his eponymous heroine as overwhelmed by passion redolent of Medea. Lindsay authored only a handful of dramatic works, all of which centred on historical figures, and all of which focussed on themes of Christian morality in opposition to heathen values.
