The final edition of Scottish poet and playwright James Thomson's (1700-1748) celebrated sentimental blank verse poem to be published in his lifetime, and the last to be revised by him in expanded form. The Seasons were first printed separately, beginning with 'Winter' in 1726, with the complete cycle of four first published collectively in 1730.
