8vo. 265pp, with two folding full colour maps. Original publisher's red cloth boards lettered black, with a white eagle design stamped to front. 'For review' stamp to half-title. All edges faded, corners bumped, spine slightly sunned. Internally bright save the toned endpapers and a few small marks throughout.
First edition of Benson's treatise for the reconstruction - and independence - of Poland after the First World War, in a bid to ensure 'a permanent barrier against the Teutonic power on its West'.

E. F. Benson (1867-1940) was an extremely prolific English writer, completing over fifty novels, four novel series, short stories, plays, biographies, and other non-fiction works on subjects as varied as golf and grave digging. His last work, his third autobiography, was delivered to his publisher just ten days before his death.
