Original publisher's blind-stamped navy fine-diaper cloth, lettered in gilt. A trifle rubbed, small chip to spine, cocked. Later bookplate of S. K. Poole to FEP, scattered spotting.
The first edition of Dickens's travelogue recording his tour of Italy in 1844. Notably, Clarkson Stanfield was originally commissioned to provide the illustrations for the book, however, he resigned after reading the passages in which Dickens criticises the excess of Catholic worship.
