UNRECORDED VIEWS FOR AN UNPUBLISHED WORK

[HOLDERNESS]. A series of seventeen views of churches, monuments, and other antiquities, originally engraved for "dade's history of holderness," now first published.

Hull. J. Greenwood, 1835. First edition.
Folio. [2]pp. 17 engraved views on 15 plates. Uncut in original publisher's printed buff wrappers. Extremities worn, without lower panel. Occasional spotting/dampstaining.
An apparently unrecorded suite of engraved plates originally intended to accompany antiquary William Dade's (bap. 1741, d. 1790) unpublished history of Holderness, East Yorkshire. The volume reached proof in 1784, but poor health prevented completion of the project. Dade's working manuscripts were sold after his death and deposited in the library at Burton Constable, where George Poulson used them as the foundation for his own history of region (Hull, 1840-41).
