Pencilled gift inscription to FEP of Vol. I: 'Maud Brooke from Father. Feb 25th/84.' Small annotations in Vol. II to contents page, and further notes to REP, likely in the hand of Stopford Brooke.

A gifted copy of Shelley's (1792-1822) poetical works, edited by William Rossetti (1829-1919). Both Rossetti and Stopford Brooke stood as Chairman of the Shelley Society within their lifetimes, and in gifting these volumes to his daughter, Brooke would inspire within her a similar interest. Small ticks reveal close study of the second volume, with more detailed notes on the back endpaper noting the meaning of several verses.
