An unopened copy of Shelley's The Wandering Jew, published by the Shelley Society. The Wandering Jew, a figure in European legend, scorned Jesus on his progression to the cross at Calvary, and appeared previously in Canto VII of Shelley's Queen Mab as the radical Ahasuerus. This poem, left unfinished, was first published in 1877, several decades after Shelley's death.
