Some thoughts on the manner of spending the passion week. Addressed to the fashionable world; but particularly to the polite circles in the gay city of bath..
London.
Printed for F. and C. Rivington, 1795.
First edition.
8vo.
45pp, [1]. Disbound, calf remnants to spine. A clean and crisp copy.
The sole edition of an anonymous pamphlet encouraging reflection and devotion across Passion Week, the seven days preceding Easter in the Christian calendar. The British Critic (1795) describes the result as 'doubtless a well-intended remonstrance', but criticises the use of 'many vulgar phrases' and 'incongruous metaphors', as well as the volume's melodramatic description of the crucifixion.
