Also known as the Westcott and Hort text, after its editors, bishop and theologian Brooke Foss Westcott (1825-1901), and theologian Fenton John Anthony Hort (1828-1892), this comprehensively researched edition marked a turning point in Biblical scholarship, inciting the continued preference for the Alexandrian text-type still seen in critical editions today.
