An early twentieth century issue, finely bound for Hatchards, of the enduring memoirs of Anne 'Ninon' de Lenclos (1620-1705) French author, free thinker and courtesan. Originally published in the eighteenth century, and often attributed to French writer Antoine Bret (1717 – 1792), the memoirs recount the fascinating life of the pioneering literary figure, whose determination to remain unmarried and pride in her independent income made her a French cultural icon.
