The sole edition, published in Manchester, of a sensational account of the activities of Staffordshire doctor and murderer William Palmer (1824-1856), dubbed the Rugeley Poisoner, or the Prince of Poisoners, after he was charged with the strychnine poisoning of his friend John Cook. Palmer was suspected of poisoning not only Cook, but also his brother, mother-in-law, and four of his own children, for which he collected substantial sums in inheritance and life insurance.
