Songs of a Sammy: Poems.
Boston.
The Stratford Co., Publishers, 1918.
First edition.
8vo.
[2], vii, [1], 78pp. With half-title. Original publisher's orange paper boards, printed paper lettering-pieces to spine and upper board. Lightly rubbed and marked, with spotting to lettering-pieces, spine slightly dulled. Internally clean and crisp.
The sole edition, in original boards, of a collection of melancholic war poetry by the stubbornly unidentifiable Warren C. Vining. Several of the verses suggest a distinctly military experience, including 'Riveille', 'Follow the Flag, Boys!', 'The Journey's End', and 'Mud' - the latter referring to trenches in Flanders.
